
Making Bathroom Heaters That Don’t Blind You
When we design ceiling heaters for bathrooms, we’re juggling two things: getting you warm fast and making sure you aren’t squinting the whole time. Here’s the problem with standard infrared lamps. They tend to blast out a lot of visible light and UV rays. It creates this harsh glare that’s not just annoying—it can actually be stressful on the eyes, especially for babies whose vision is still developing. Nobody wants a bathroom that feels like an interrogation room. The trick to the light To fix this, we basically “tune” the light. We use special coatings and doped quartz glass to strip away those aggressive UV rays and the blinding brightness. Instead, we push the energy into the medium-wave infrared band. You can’t really “see” it, but you can definitely feel it. It sinks into your skin and warms you up without flooding the room with a bright, artificial glow. It’s a much softer experience. The guts of the machine Inside, we use high-purity quartz tubes to hold the tungsten filament. Bathrooms are tough on gear—they’re humid and the heaters click on and off all day. These tubes can handle that thermal shock without cracking. We also use polished aluminum or gold-coated reflectors. Think of it like a flashlight beam; we’re pushing the heat down in a tight cone. This means the warmth hits you where you actually need it, rather than just heating up the ceiling. A few things to keep in mind If you’re installing these, make sure they’re on their own dedicated circuit. These lamps pull a lot of power the second you flip the switch. And just a heads-up: because we filter out the harsh light for safety, you lose a tiny bit of that immediate “punch” you get from unfiltered lamps. It takes a fraction longer to feel the heat, but it’s a fair trade for not straining your eyes. One last thing—check that your housing is IP-rated. Steam is a killer for electronics, and you don’t want your contacts corroding just because you took a hot shower.
