
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm and Mold-Free
When we built our splash-proof infrared heaters, we weren’t just thinking about how to keep you warm while you’re brushing your teeth. In a bathroom, managing moisture is just as big of a deal as the actual heat. Most people assume these are just fancy heat lamps. But there’s more going on under the hood. We’ve tuned the light spectrum to actually help pull moisture out of the air.
How it actually works
Mold loves two things: stagnant air and damp walls. Instead of just heating up the air—which is what those old-school convection heaters do—we use short-wave infrared (SWIR). This energy goes straight through the surface layer of your walls and ceilings. It keeps those surfaces warmer than the “dew point.” In plain English? Your walls stay dry. And when the walls are dry, mold spores have nowhere to land and grow.
The “Water and Electricity” Problem
We all know that Water and high-voltage gear are a dangerous mix. That’s why we use IPX4 protection. It basically means the housing is built to shrug off splashes from any direction. We also use sealed quartz envelopes and heavy-duty gaskets. This stops condensation from sneaking in and frying the internal filaments. One quick tip:**Check your grounding.**These lamps pull a lot of power. If your wiring is too thin or outdated, you’ll get voltage drops, and your lamps won’t last nearly as long as they should.
A few things to keep in mind
The heat from these is intense. It dries a room out incredibly fast, but it creates a very sharp “heat zone.” If you mount the heater too close to plastic fixtures or cheap acrylics, you might actually warp the material. Give yourself some breathing room—we suggest at least 1.5 meters of clearance from anything that might melt or bend. The best part? They’re instant. You don’t have to wait twenty minutes for a fan to slowly warm up the room. You flip the switch, and you feel the heat in seconds. It’s a total shift in how you start your morning.
