
Keeping the Heat On: Why Your Wet-Room Heater Needs to Be Tough

The Deal with “Explosion-Proof” Quartz
Here is the reality: if a drop of cold water hits a surface that’s sitting at 600°C, things go south. The glass cracks. It’s just basic physics. We use explosion-proof quartz because it can actually handle those wild temperature swings without shattering. The material is built to spread that thermal stress across the tube wall instead of letting it snap. And if a tube does happen to fail? The “explosion-proof” part means the glass doesn’t spray shards all over the place. It keeps the mess contained and, more importantly, keeps the user safe.
Stopping the Leaks (IP65)
In a bathroom, steam gets into everything. It’s relentless. An IP65 rating basically means the unit is tight enough to keep out dust and can take a direct hit from water jets. But you can’t just wrap some electrical tape around a wire and hope for the best. That’s a recipe for a short circuit. We use industrial gaskets and sealed terminals. It’s the only way to make sure the power stays in the wires and far away from the water.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
These heaters are great because they give you instant, intense heat in a tiny space. But there’s a catch. The more wattage you pump in, the hotter the surrounding housing gets. You can’t ignore that. You’ve got to make sure your ventilation and brackets are up to the task. If you skimp on the airflow, you’re just going to trip the thermal cutout and end up with a cold shower. Get the wiring right, and you’ve got a system that can survive the dampest, harshest environments without burning out on you.
